Hollyoaks has aired a surprising twist after Warren Fox threatened to gun down Felix Westwood.
In Monday's first-look episode, Felix, Celeste and Pearl were relieved to find out that Martine's operation went well and she was making a "good recovery", according to Misbah.
Pearl took Felix aside to pass along Martine's mum's engagement ring from Walter, encouraging him to pop the question since he'd "kept Martine waiting long enough".
The family had no idea that Warren was stalking them with a handgun in his back pocket, after being riled up by Fergus that Felix would take his children away if he exposed their dodgy dealings.
Warren knocked Felix out as he walked back to the hospital, leaving the engagement ring on the street corner as he dragged his nemesis into a nondescript van.
He took Felix out to the forest and tied him to a tree. With a gun now pointed at his head, Felix begged to at least call Martine to lie about running off so she wouldn't have to wonder about him forever.
Felix made an emotional call to Martine's bedside where he confused her with a marriage proposal. Warren snatched the phone back to hang up before she could answer, then raised the gun again.
A gunshot rang out — and the next thing viewers saw, Warren was back in the village telling Fergus he'd finished the job on Felix.
That wasn't actually the truth, though! Warren's son Joel had intervened just before his dad could shoot Felix to convince him to spare his long-time friend's life.
Joel revealed he'd been paying a hacker to take down Operation Bluebird, and suggested Warren join forces with him and Felix to bring Fergus down once and for all.
To make it work, Felix would have to agree to stay in hiding while Warren tried to squeeze information from his boss.
"Okay, I'll do it, but I ain't hiding in there forever," he said. "You two better get out there and start digging. Once we find out what Fergus is up to, we're gonna bury him for good."
However, Pearl was left suspecting something was amiss when she found the engagement ring in the alley near Walter's shop.
Hollyoaks airs new episodes from Mondays to Fridays at 6.30pm on Channel 4, with first-look screenings at 7pm on E4. Selected omnibus episodes are available via Amazon Prime Video.
