The Flash: Ben Affleck Felt Emotional Over Batman Return

Ben Affleck only made three appearances as Batman in the DC Extended Universe before his 2019 "retirement" but his brief stint was more than enough to convince a lot of fans that he was the definitive live-action version of the caped crusader. This is why a lot of fans were thrilled after learning that the actor will be reprising the role in The Flash although rumor has it that the film will serve as his official DCEU send-off.

We still don't know what the future holds for Affleck's Dark Knight but it looks like he was happy to be back even for just a minor involvement in the film. According to director Andy Muschietti's wife and The Flash producer Barbara Muschiettie, Affleck and the returning Michael Keaton were both "emotional" over their Batman comeback.

In an interview with Bilibili, Muschietti shared: "It was amazing to see that both of them, both Ben Affleck and Michael Keaton, got quite emotional at coming back once they were with us and they got to put on the cowl and the cape. I think they both felt the small joy that comes with playing that character back and had fun with it, it was a great experience."

I'm still one of the fans who are rooting for Affleck to make his full-time return as Batman in the DCEU and I don't think I'm ready for him to get his closure. However, it looks like Keaton will actually be sticking around as Batman with rumors of The Flash hitting the reset button on the franchise. Personally, I'd have no problem with that because I grew up loving Keaton's version of the character but man, Affleck was truly something special.

The Flash is slated for release in November 2022.
