The restaurant sits on nearly a quarter-acre of waterfront land on Solomons Island, a popular weekend getaway in Southern Maryland.

A Solomons Island seafood spot known for crab cakes and crushes is headed to auction this week.

Stoney's Kingfishers Seafood Bar & Grill and a sister restaurant on nearby Broomes Island, Stoney's Seafood House, will both be auctioned Oct. 19. The sales come as part of foreclosure proceedings, said Paul Cooper, a vice president for Alex Cooper Auctioneers who is handling the listing.

Cooper said both auctions will include only real estate. The approximately 4,800-square-foot Stoney's Kingfishers sits on nearly a quarter-acre of waterfront land on Solomons Island, a popular weekend getaway in Southern Maryland. The restaurant, which is leased from the property owners according to Cooper, has an outdoor deck overlooking an inlet of the Patuxent River, as well as eight boat slips.

Stoney's Seafood House, the Broomes Island restaurant, is temporarily closed, according to its website. The 6,200-square-foot, 300-seat eatery at 3944 Oyster House Road has been in business for more than 20 years and shares a 1.34-acre waterfront property with Stoney's B&B, a four-bedroom bed and breakfast. Next door, a 1.39-acre property at 3946 Oyster House Road is used as a wedding venue, with 5,000 square feet of tented event space as well as a covered "Boat Bar."

The auctions will take place Tuesday on the steps of the Circuit Court for Calvert County at 175 Main St. in Prince Frederick. Bidding on the Solomons Island restaurant will begin at 12:30 p.m., and bidding on the Broomes Island properties will follow at 12:50 p.m.

The restaurants are the latest waterfront dining spots to head to the auction block. Last week, the New Sue Island Grill and Crabhouse in Essex sold for $1.52 million to an unidentified "established restaurateur." The auction came as the New Sue's owner, David Jacobs, prepares to retire.

Legal records show the Calvert County Circuit Court awarded a confessed judgment of $2.2 million against The Money Pit LLC, an entity linked to Stoney's Kingfishers Seafood House, this month. The recipient of the money is identified as LBC2 Trust.
