Belzile was designated for waivers by the Canadiens on Monday.
Belzile has been a healthy scratch for all three games this year, so the decision to move him down to the minors shouldn't come as a surprise. Assuming he clears, the 30-year-old winger will be reassigned to AHL Laval, where he should be expected to play the bulk of his games this year.
