The Jets continue to underperform year after year and, while we knew they weren’t going to be good this season, even I didn’t expect them to be this ineffective. The Jets’ lone win came two weeks ago against the Titans, and it was a nailbiter 27-24. Other than that, they were shut out by the Broncos 26-0 and already lost to the Patriots this year 25-6 among other failings.

The Patriots, meanwhile, are getting used to the reality that is life after Tom Brady. The team went from perennial Super Bowl contenders to a 2-4 team that lost to the Dolphins in Week 1.

Long gone are the days where Rex Ryan tried to beat the Pats 6-3 to spoil a chance at a perfect season. Both of these teams are in need of a lot of work this offseason to be competitive in 2022.

So, which of these two stumbling franchises are we siding with this week with our NFL pick? Let’s first review the odds from WynnBET Sportsbook and make our bet.

Jets vs. Patriots Odds, Spread, and Total

You know a team is in a sad state when the only positive I can think to mention is that they will be rested coming off a Week 6 bye. I am sure it was a welcome break after the season they have been having. The last time we saw the Jets, they were losing 27-20 at the hands of the Atlanta Falcons.

NY’s rookie QB, Zach Wilson, has not been the savior that some thought he would be after moving on from Sam Darnold. Wilson ranks 27th in the league in passing yards, 29th in TDs, and pretty much dead last with a QBR of 22.6. He does lead the league in one important category. Interceptions, of which he has nine. When you consider he has just 98 competitions on the year, that INT number becomes terrifying to anyone looking to bet on this team. That works out to about nine percent of Wilson’s completions going to the other team. Think about that for a second before you place another bet on this team.

To be fair, the Patriots aren’t doing that much better this season despite being 2nd in the AFC East.

They are coming off a 35-29 OT loss to the Cowboys in Week 6. While you might be tricked into thinking this was a close game because of the final score, it really wasn’t. The Cowboys generated 232 more yards on offense and were really let down by their defense in this game. Mac Jones had a decent game, going 15 for 21 with 229 yards and 2 touchdowns, but he still doesn’t look comfortable in the pocket or in this system. The fundamentals are clearly there but something is lacking.

Jones is also a turnover machine and ranks 25th in the NFL with six interceptions and 21st with a QBR of 50.1. On the plus side, Jones does have a very good completion percentage of 71.1 percent. Despite this, his 7:6 TD: INT ratio and 7.0 yards per attempt stats outweigh the good.

The point is that this ‘QB Battle’ will not be one for the ages. It will, however, be profitable from a betting viewpoint if they can continue to fail and keep the score low.
