Colts Monday Morning Awards: Week 6 vs. Houston

MVPs of the Game: Jonathan Taylor/Darius Leonard

15 touches, 158 yards, 2 touchdowns, and a breakaway 83-yard run that helped put the game away. Jonathan Taylor had himself yet another amazing game as he is starting to look more and more like he did last season. Taylor took advantage of a mediocre Texans’ run defense in the second half after being contained in the first and was instrumental in putting any hopes of an upset away.

Darius Leonard is another player that is starting to look more like himself after a slow start to the season that saw him play through an ankle injury. Leonard had 7 combined tackles, an interception, and a forced fumble on his famous peanut punch.

Dud of the Game (The Grigsy): Eric Fisher/Xavier Rhodes

No player was particularly bad yesterday, but both Eric Fisher and Xavier Rhodes had tough games. Fisher allowed two pressures, a hit, and a hurry on just 23 pass-block snaps, while also committing 3 penalties. Yet another tough game for the free-agent acquisition, as moving Nelson to left tackle and leaving Reed at LG seems like a solid choice. Rhodes allowed 5 receptions on 7 targets, as backup corner Isaiah Rodgers is starting to look like a viable starter.

Best Play of the Game: Parris Campbell 51-yard TD grab

Facing 3rd and 3 near midfield, Carson Wentz unleashed a bomb to an open Campbell in the endzone. The Colts' passing offense now has 11 completions with 20+ air yards, with 3 touchdowns.

Worst Play of the Game: Vacant

Colts won 31-3 in a game where the final result was never really in doubt. The defense, despite allowing 9/17 third-down conversions, and generating almost no pass-rush, allowed just 3 points and managed to make the big plays when it mattered the most. The offense struggled in the first half but managed to turn it around in the second half thanks to an impressive performance by Taylor.

Best Position Group: Linebackers

Excellent game by both Darius Leonard and Bobby Okereke. Leonard forced two turnovers, rushing the passer Okereke got a hit and a hurry, while Leonard got a hit. They got 4 combined stops in the running game. In coverage, they allowed 5 receptions on 7 targets for just 48 yards. The duo desperately needed a game like this after such a poor start.

Unsung Hero: Tayler Stallworth

Stallworth has been solid on very limited snaps this year and is starting to become a valuable rotation piece on a defensive line that has been struggling lately. Racking up a stop and a quarterback hit on just 28 snaps, Stallworth had a great game and should continue getting meaningful snaps.

Rookie of the Week: Kwity Paye

Honestly, the hurry alone would have warranted the ROTW award, as no other rookies made any sort of impact on the game. The near-interception was the cherry on top.
