Giants' Joe Judge: 'There's a lot of football left'

With each passing loss, the New York Giants fan base is slowly losing patience with Joe Judge as the head coach.

Following an embarrassing 38-11 loss to the Los Angeles Rams on Sunday at MetLife Stadium, Judge’s simple message was one of patience.

“We’ve got things we’ve got to improve on. When we come back on Wednesday, it’s time to get going to work. Get your bodies right, get your minds right. We’re not going to be licking our wounds around here. There’s a lot of ball left to be played,” Judge told reporters on Sunday. “Our goal every week is to go 1-0. Our goal is to get better as a team as the season progresses. That goal doesn’t change.

“You talk about the big picture — the big picture is the little picture, that’s next week. The big picture is how we handle next week, how we practice, how we improve, how we prepare and how we come out and we execute. That’s where our focus has to be seven days from now. We’ve got seven days to get ready for another good opponent coming in here and that’s where our focus has to be.”

Here’s the reality: the Giants are now 7-15 under Judge in the less than two years that he’s been the head coach.

Now, the Giants did start out 1-7 last year before the Giants finished 5-3 and nearly won the NFC East, but that was a much different team that we all saw finish in January.

If you want the pulse of the fan base following that loss to the Rams, it’s not pretty for Judge. . . or anyone else. But especially Judge.

The fans had some points, like why Judge decided to keep Daniel Jones in during a blowout game a week after suffering a concussion.

It’s these type of decisions that could ultimately be the demise for a young head coach who once showed a lot of promise but in the end, could be another failed Bill Belichick disciple.

Yes, there are still 12 games left to be played. But the Giants don’t exactly look like a team that’s running the table and going 12-5. So while there is a lot of football left, there could be a lot of bad football in store for the Giants in 2021.
