Liverpool man dies after car he was driving hit a tree, state police say

Fabius, N.Y. -- An 87-year-old Liverpool man has died after the car he was driving hit a tree in Fabius, according to the New York State Police.

James Diliberto was driving a 2008 Toyota Sienna south on Toggenburg Road on Sunday night when he drove off the road and hit the tree, police said.

Troopers responded to the crash, near 787 Toggenburg Road, at about 8:35 p.m., according to police.

Police do not yet know why Diliberto’s car went off the road, according to troopers.

Diliberto was taken to Upstate University Hospital and was pronounced dead at the hospital, police said.
