The following is a press release from Iowa State Athletic Communications.

AMES, Iowa – Iowa State senior placekicker Andrew Mevis was honored for his outstanding performance at Kansas State on Saturday, earning Big 12 Special Teams Player of the Week and Lou Groza Award “Star of the Week” honors.

A native of Warsaw, Ind., Mevis was sensational in Iowa State’s 33-20 victory at Kansas State. His accuracy and range played a key part in helping ISU claim its first victory in Manhattan since 2004.

Mevis was perfect on the night, making all four of his field-goal attempts and both of his PATs. His four made field goals were a career-high, and the senior also produced four touchbacks in seven attempts.

All four field goals were from 40 yards or longer, connecting from 44, 41, 41 and 40 yards. He closed out the first half by making a 41-yarder as time expired.

Mevis is having a fantastic season. He ranks 12th nationally in field goals made per game (1.67) and has made 10-of-12 field goals on the season, including 8-of-10 from 40 yards or longer. His 54-yard field goal at UNLV earlier in the season ties for the seventh-longest kick in school history.
