Police arrest Williamsburg man after allegedly found passed out in dorm stairwell

A Williamsburg man was arrested early Sunday after being found passed out in a dorm stairwell.

According to the arrest report, the incident occurred at Burge Hall just after 2 am. 18-year-old Kayden Gryp of Williamsburg was contacted by police after being found passed out. He allegedly showed multiple signs of intoxication, including bloodshot watery eyes, slurred speech, unsteady balance and the odor of ingested alcohol.

Gryp was asked for his ID and he reportedly pulled out a fictitious Missouri driver’s license. The officer asked for his Iowa ID observed in his wallet, but he allegedly refused to produce it.

Gryp then flicked the officer’s radio mic on her outer vest, and was told not to touch her. Gryp then reportedly resisted directives to put his hands behind his back, and was placed under arrest.

He’s been charged with Possession of a fictitious ID and Public Intoxication. He could be sentenced to up to 13 months in jail if convicted.
