Sorta Seafoam Pixel 6 Leaked Render - 1

The Pixel 6 lineup could be insanely cheaper than expected

A couple of weeks ago, a leaked flyer from Germany revealed what could possibly be the price of Google’s upcoming Pixel 6 smartphones. According to the leak, the Pixel 6 would be priced starting at €649, but now according to a new leak from M. Brandon Lee of This Is Tech Today, we now know how much the phone could cost in the US.

According to the leaked pricing Lee obtained, it seems that the Pixel 6 will be priced starting at $599 while the Pixel 6 Pro will be priced at $898. The pricing of the Pixel 6 is actually $100 cheaper than what Google charged for the Pixel 5, which has led Lee to believe that Google could be heavily subsidizing the price of their upcoming phones.

In a way, it shouldn’t be too surprising. The Pixel 6 series will be the first phone from Google to feature the use of the company’s own chipset, Tensor. If Google hopes to get as many phones into as many hands as possible, bringing the price down is one way to do it. After all, there are many mid-range phones out there to compete with, so making the phone cheaper could make it a more attractive purchase.

Keep in mind that while this pricing is different from the previously leaked flyer, it doesn’t mean that they contradict each other. After all, they are priced for different markets and have to take into account the different taxes, plus the leaked flyer also suggested that the retailer was tossing in a pair of Bose 700 headphones, so that might also account for the difference.

Either way, we’ll know soon enough at Google’s Pixel event slated for tomorrow, so check back with us then for more updates.
