Bandai Namco and FromSoftware have announced that Elden Ring has received a short delay from its original release date of January 21st on PC, PlayStation and Xbox. The news was announced via a tweet from the official Elden Ring Twitter account.

How Long Has Elden Ring Been Delayed For?

According to the tweet from the team themselves, Elden Ring has been delayed on all platforms until February 25th, 2022, which is just over a month from the game’s initial release date. The reason for this short delay is that “the depth & strategic freedom of the game exceeded initial expectations”, meaning some additional polish and time is needed. Fortunately, if you can’t wait until February, you might have a chance to play the game beforehand.

How Can I Play Elden Ring Before February?

Alongside the delay, Bandai and FromSoftware announced that they’ll be holding a Closed Network Test for Elden Ring, as a way of testing how the ambitious RPG holds up in an online environment. It’s free to sign-up, and subscriptions are live right now on the Bandai Namco website. All you need to do is create an account with Bandai, and it’s worth noting that advantages are being given to the first EP!C members who sign up. EP!C is Bandai’s online rewards club, so if you’ve got an account, it’s worth signing up to the beta as you’ll be more likely to be considered.

The closed network test will comprise of five sessions spread out across multiple days. The sessions will be across the same timezone, so you’ll have to pick the times that work best for you. The times are as follows:

– Session 1: 12 pm – 3 pm, November 12th CET
– Session 2: 4 am – 7 am, November 13th CET
– Session 3: 8 pm – 11 pm, November 13th CET
