The Duchess of Cambridge looked stunning in a floating Alexander McQueen dress for the first Earthshot Prize awards in London last night (18 September).

The Duchess attended the awards ceremony with Prince William, who wore a bold green velvet jacket with a black turtle-neck jumper.

Kate’s dress features a floor-skating hem, pleated skirt and golden waistband. The British designed dress is a 2011 favourite of the Duchess’, which she has worn before.

The Duke and Duchess took part in the event to announce the awards winners, during the ceremony which was broadcast live.

The Earthshot Prize is a 10 year environmental project which will present an annual award for a project which benefits the planet and tackles climate change.

There were 15 finalists up for an award in one of five categories and last night the very first winners were announced at the star-studded ceremony.

Speaking directly to young people during the awards, Prince William said, "For too long, we haven’t done enough to protect the planet for your future. But Earthshot is for you.

"In the next ten years we are going to act. We are going to find the solutions to repair our planet. Please keep learning, keep demanding change, and don’t give up hope. We will rise to these challenges."

Famous guests included the legendary David Attenborough, actress Emma Thompsom, footballer Mo Saleh, Harry Potter’s Emma Watson and a singer Ed Sheeran, who gave a performance.
