Masked Kanye West Plays Four-Song Set at Italian Wedding Reception

Kanye West played his first live show in more than a year and a half on Saturday night (Oct. 16) during the wedding of Tiffany & Co. EVP Alexander Arnault and D’Estree founder Geraldine Guiotte in Venice, Italy. Wearing one of his now-signature masks, West took the stage in an oversized, baggy sport coat and dark jeans for the brief, four-song set for the luxe crowd, which reportedly also included Jay-Z and Beyoncé, the Roots’ Questlove and Pharrell Williams, among others.

As reported by Complex, West ran through hits “Runaway” and “Flashing Lights,” as well as the Donda songs “Come to Life” and “Believe What I Say,” with vocals that were at times muffled by the custom Balenciaga mask. The private set was West’s first secular show since 2018 and his first public performance since a March 2020 gig with his Sunday Service choir; West appeared at a series of pre-release Donda playback events in July that found him blasting his latest album to packed stadiums.

Fan shot video of the event showed West in a grim-faced, Squid Game boss-like mask standing mostly still on stage crooning along to a backing track as the tuxedoed crowd boogied in an enormous tent. In one photo from the party, West is flanked by producer 88Keys and rapper Vory, who were also dressed in slouchy sport coats, dark pants and matching grim-visage masks.
