Details of an new Ikea portable Bluetooth speaker that doubles as a lamp have leaked courtesy of an FCC filing.

As The Verge reports, the new speaker is called Vappeby, but it does more than simply allow you to enjoy music. Ikea decided to add the ability to insert a bulb (20 lumen, 2700K), allowing this portable speaker to double as a lantern.

Images reveal the Vappeby is shaped like a mushroom and has a carry handle for easy portability. The user manual is also available to read and confirms there's a Spotify Tap button included, which allows for instant music resumption and a way to quickly change what track is being played.

The light can be turned on or off using another button, but also allows it to be set to either 50% or 100% brightness. Volume is controlled using a rotating dial, which doubles as a play/pause button and has an integrated status LED (indicates Bluetooth pairing status and low battery/charging status).

Ikea allowed enough space inside for two 3,300mAh batteries, which will allow for up to 13 hours of playback (assuming 50% lamp brightness and speaker volume) before a recharge is required. Charging is achieved via the included USB Type-C to USB cable and is rated at 10W. The Vappeby is also IP65-rated, making it suitable for outdoor use. We don't know how much the Vappeby will cost or when Ikea intends to release it, but the FCC filing suggests it's just about ready for consumers.
