HutchCC approves promotion of VP of Student Services, and agreement with instructors

Hutchinson, Kan. – The Board of Trustees of Hutchinson Community College completed several items of business at its October meeting.

During the meeting, the Board approved the hiring of Christopher Lau as the Vice President of Student Services. A native of Satanta, KS, Lau has served as HutchCC’s Coordinator of Advising, Career Development and Counseling since 2008.

For fiscal year 2021-2022 the Board approved the Master Agreement with the Hutchinson National Faculty Association which includes a 3.5% increase on base salary and $20 per month increase for Board Benefits. A salary increase for classified and administrative staff based on performance, market value and scope of responsibility, with the average increase not to exceed 3.5% and a $20 per month increase in the Board Benefit was also approved for classified and administrative staff. In addition, the Board approved the president’s contract with the same base salary and Board Benefit adjustments as staff and administration.

In other business, the Board approved payment of the College bills along with academic calendars for the 2022-2023 and 2023-2024 academic years.

The next meeting of the board will be on Thursday, November 11. The meeting will be at 7:00 p.m. in the Shears Technology Center Justice Theater. The public is invited to attend. For more information on Hutchinson Community College, visit the college website at www.hutchcc.edu.
