Two years later, Hurts is the starting quarterback for the Philadelphia Eagles, but drawing comparisons to a former Heisman Trophy winner who flopped in the NFL.

Yes, it’s Tim Tebow time, thanks to FOX Sports talking head Skip Bayless. The loudmouth compared Hurts to Tebow Friday on “Undisputed,” following the Eagles’ 28-22 loss to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Thursday Night Football. Bayless made his case to co-host and Pro Football Hall of Famer Shannon Sharpe.

“You had to dismiss Jalen Hurts. I am not dismissing him. What did I tell you from the start about Jalen Hurts? And you can laugh at this, you can ridicule this. I told you he is a play-maker, that he is what word have I used? He is Tebow-esque. He is the current day Tim Tebow. Not exactly the same, but in play-making with just average passing skills that can become way above average when it’s time, because he made some throws in the fourth quarter that made you say, ‘Whoa!’

“He just makes plays with his legs and his arm. It’s not going to translate into any kind of stats. .... but he’s getting a lot of credit for what he did with his legs. Because the only time he gashed him it was mostly with his legs. I’m going to defend him as a guy you can win games with and I still say Philly is the most dangerous team to the Dallas Cowboys in the NFC East.”

Hurts completed just 12 of 26 passes for 115 yards with one touchdown and one interception Thursday against the Buccaneers. But Hurts did run for a pair of touchdowns, reminding the Eagles and their fans of his potential as a dual-threat quarterback.

However the Dallas Cowboys beat the New England Patriots, 35-29 in overtime on Sunday, improving to 5-1 and opening up a three-game lead over the Eagles and Washington Football Team in the NFC East.
