Report: Celtics sign Brodric Thomas to Two-Way contract

Per ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski, the Boston Celtics are filling their second Two-Way spot with Brodric Thomas:

Thomas played last season with the Houston Rockets and Cleveland Cavaliers. Thomas started the year on a Two-Way deal with Houston. He was waived in mid-February and then joined the Cavs later that month.

In 28 appearances (one start) with Cleveland, Thomas averaged 4.1 points in 13.4 minutes per game. In a late-season game against the Celtics, Thomas scored five points and grabbed 10 rebounds in a Cavaliers win.

In 14 games (13 starts) in the G League bubble, Thomas averaged 18.5 points, 7.3 rebounds, 3.5 assists, 1.9 steals and 1.1 blocks. He played for both the Rio Grande Valley Vipers and the Canton Charge in the bubble.

Thomas made it to the NBA after a standout career at Division II Truman State. The 6-foot-5 guard was a three-year starter. As a senior, Thomas averaged 21.5 points on 50/42/81 shooting splits. He also grabbed 7.2 rebounds and dished out 3.3 assists per game.

Thomas joins Sam Hauser as Boston’s two Two-Way players. Both are expected to spend considerable time playing with the Maine Celtics of the G League.

Boston has one open standard roster. That spot opened when the Celtics waived Jabari Parker from his partially guaranteed contract on Sunday.
