ORLANDO, Fla. — As of Monday, AAA is reporting Florida gas prices are going up slightly as oil prices hit their highest level in years.

What You Need To Know

  • The state average of $3.18 a gallon is a half-cent higher than this time last week

  • The Orlando metro is considered one of the least expensive in the state at around $3.13 per gallon.

Central Florida though is fairing better than other parts of the state and country. Right now, the national average is about $3.31, so Florida is slightly below that.

However, experts warn another increase could be on the way.

Oil prices hit their highest level in years Monday morning as demand recovers from the pandemic, as crude oil futures rise to $85.49 a barrel, the highest price since October 2018.

If you are trying to save money, AAA recommends reducing excess weight in your car, combining errands and shopping around for the best price.

A good way to shop around is by using the Spectrum News 13 gas tracker.
