PlayStation 5 Update Finally Adds Feature Fans Have Asked For Since Launch

The PlayStation 5 is a great console, but after nearly one year, it's clear that the new-gen machine still has a ways to go before it can finally become its best self.

Fortunately, Sony is actively working on this every day. A recent system update added a bunch of highly requested features and quality-of-life improvements which you can see in more detail via the video below.

More recently, the PlayStation 5's undeniably messy store tab just got a major improvement. Over the past few months, navigating the PS5 store has been kind of a pain. It's typically stacked to make sure games that aren't even out yet sit at the very top of the store, while smaller games and releases you can actually buy and play rather than just pre-order get lost in the mix. Great for AAA publishers. Not so good for indie studios trying to get their efforts out there.

Thankfully, PlayStation has heard this feedback. As pointed out by Shuhei Yoshida and others on Twitter, the PS5 Store now has a "New Games" tab that makes it much, much easier to see what's just come out and what you'll be able to play. This is perfect for everyone who wants to keep on top of the latest releases, which I'm sure is most of us.

Now, if PlayStation could go ahead and add custom themes to the PS5 UI, that'd be great. We're fast approaching the first anniversary of the console, and I feel like busting out some special themes to help personalise our experiences further would be one of the best ways to celebrate the occasion, no?
