Aquaman 2 Director James Wan Shares First Look at Black Manta's New Helmet in The Lost Kingdom

Things are getting exciting for Aquaman and The Lost Kingdom. After giving us our first glimpse at Arthur Curry's new suit, director James Wan has revealed Black Manta's new helmet and it looks like Yahya Abdul-Mateen II's character is getting a major upgrade.

Wan shared a series of photos on his official Instagram account along with some details about the inspiration behind the new design. Make sure you swipe through the post to see all the images.

"Black Manta (played by the talented and badass @yahya) and his ship/tech inspired by the aesthetic of the Silver Age (and New 52, thank you @ivanreisart) comics. Months and months of meticulous detailing were spent on costume and production designs," Wan wrote. He then added the hashtags #aquaman2, #lostkingdom, and #silverage.

This is an awesome upgrade considering that the first helmet was destroyed in the fight between Arthur and Black Manta in the first movie. In addition to that, Abdul-Mateen looks amazing in the suit and we can't wait to see him in action again next year.

The cast of Aquaman 2 is clearly hyped up for the new project and they are eager to give fans updates on The Lost Kingdom. It was previously reported that Dolph Lundgren shared our first look at his return as King Nereus in the upcoming DC Extended Universe sequel. Wan has also been keeping us updated on what's happening during filming so we could be getting new details soon.

Aquaman and The Lost Kingdom will also star Amber Heard, Patrick Wilson, Temuera Morrison, Randall Park, Indya Moore, and Pilou Asbaek. The film is scheduled for release on December 16, 2022.
