The Davis High JV football team beat Pleasant Grove in their Homecoming game on Oct. 15. The final score was 29-6, with Davis holding the ball for the majority of each quarter.

A crowd of spectators formed in the stands as kickoff got underway around 5 p.m.

Early in the first quarter, the Davis defense won the ball as Pleasant Grove was halted at the 30 yard line. After falling slightly short in their first possession accompanying a 10 yard holding foul, Davis gave the ball back to Pleasant Grove.

The Pleasant Grove offense marched down the field and looked to score the first points of the game, but the Davis defense was able to hold off Pleasant Grove’s offense at the brink of the end zone. Then, DHS sophomore Sawyer Schoen blocked a kick and returned it by making a dash 88 yards on the return, scoring a touchdown.

Davis added to their lead when sophomore Josiah Campbell scored a rushing touchdown, to put them up 14-0.

Daniel Kamara then gave Davis their third touchdown with a 26 yard run, putting them up 22-0 going into halftime.

Kamara came back in the second half, starting off with a 77 yard touchdown run.

Pleasant Grove managed to get the ball into the endzone in the third quarter, but a missed two point conversion kept their score at six.

The score did not change through the rest of the third and the entire forth quarters, ending with a Homecoming win for Davis. Blue Devil fans were pleasantly surprised by the offensive effort. “We won by that many points? Who did we pay off?” one fan commented.

Alex Oldham had an explanation after the game, in which he saw plenty of playing time. “We fought hard and played well and came out on top.” Oldham said.
