Gary Neville Names The Manager Who Won't Take Charge Of Manchester United

Gary Neville has ruled out one manager as pressure on Ole Gunnar Solskjaer continues to mount.

Gary Neville has quashed any talk of Antonio Conte managing Manchester United as he feels he would not be a good fit at Old Trafford.

United lost 4-2 away at Leicester City on Saturday, with the club's away unbeaten run coming to an end after 29 games.

Following four wins from their first five games, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's side have been poor in recent times and are winless in their last three Premier League outings.

Plenty of managers have been touted as suitable candidates to take over from Solskjaer if the club do decide to sack the Norwegian.

Conte, who won the league with Chelsea, is out of work after leaving Inter Milan in the summer.

The ex Italy boss guided the Nerazzurri to their first Scudetto since 2010 but departed by mutual consent.

But while he's a proven winner, Neville doesn't expect Conte to be approached by United and compares it to the Jose Mourinho appointment that didn't work out.

"Conte won’t be the manager at Manchester United I don’t think,” the Sky Sports pundit said on an Instagram live.

"I don’t think they’ll go for that option, personally. He’s a great manager but I think certain managers fit certain clubs and I don’t think Conte fits United personally.

"As I say, great manager but doesn’t feel right for me that one.

“I’m not into that - giving someone a squad. We tried that with Jose, ‘Give Jose a squad and we’ll definitely win the league.’

“We didn’t and in the end it was a mess and everybody wanted him out.”

Despite a worrying run and a style of football that hasn't been particularly enjoyable to watch, Solskjaer is believed to have the backing of the United board.

Conte, meanwhile, had the chance to return to management in the summer but rejected Spurs.

Explaining his reasons for the snub, he told Gazzetta dello Sport: "I look for the projects instead and I am ready to stay at home if something is not convincing me.

"It has to do with vision, honesty and principles. Generally, I like challenges and I’ve accepted many of them during my career.

"Even the top clubs I coached were never the favourites when I arrived.

"However, if there’s something that doesn’t convince me I prefer not to accept, regardless of the money."
