Gainesville forecast: slightly cooler temperatures arrive, especially early in the week

For a few days, Gainesville residents can expect a slight chill in the morning air as the city flirts with fall weather. Monday's warmest temperatures are not predicted to pass 80 degrees, while Tuesday's high is estimated at just 82, according to Sunday's seven-day forecast from the National Weather Service in Jacksonville.

Later in the week, the days warm to reach the mid-80s, and Friday is projected to have a low chance of rain.

Monday: Mostly sunny, with high temperatures around 79 and northeast wind 5-8 mph.

Monday night: Partly cloudy, with low temperatures near 59 and northeast wind around 6 mph becoming calm in the evening.

Tuesday: Sunny, with high temperatures around 82 and calm wind becoming east 5-9 mph in the morning.

Tuesday night: Mostly clear, with low temperatures near 61.
