People filled the streets of Hannibal’s historic Main Street today for the 45th Annual Hannibal Folklife Festival.
The Hannibal Folklife Festival educates and celebrates the town's rich history.
The festival showcases traditional craftsman, artists, performers and of course delicious foods.
Every year, the festival brings in thousands of visitors from the Midwest, taking them back in time.
"Kind of our focus is what you would've found at the turn of the century and kind of getting that feel for it, and I think we are successful with that,” said Hannibal Arts Council Program Coordinator Brenda Beck Fisher. “People just love all of it."
The festival made its return after missing last year due to COVID-19.
People from all over come to America’s Hometown for the festival for a fun weekend with the family.
With its return this year, people were happy to be back.
"Just the whole idea that we couldn't have this, because everybody looks forward to this,” said Fisher. “I think they come down for the food more than anything, but it was really missed."
It was very clear visitors were excited to enjoy all of the activities going on as the streets were packed.
Seeing people back together enjoying everything the festival has to offer is a good feeling for Fisher.
"It is wonderful. Everyone has been saying 'oh, we needed this' and 'we're so glad you're back.' We've got good crowds and good food and good arts and crafts and good weather."
Fisher is happy to have the festival back this year and she encourages everyone to come on out and enjoy a fun day with friends and family.
"It's exciting to see how people are enjoying it. Families come out, they bring their children, they bring their dogs and just make a day of it. We did luck out this week with the weather. It's just beautiful. So, everybody come on out. You've still got time."
The festivities will continue tomorrow from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. with live music, craft vendors and delicious foods.
