ROME, Ga. - The University of the South cross country teams had one final tune-up prior to hosting the 2021 Southern Athletic Association (SAA) Cross Country Championships, and it took place at the Berry Invitational on Saturday. The men's team posted a 9th place finish, while the women secured seventh place from the Clara Bowl.

WOMEN SCORERS

Charlotte Ganter led the Tigers with a personal best of 24:41.2 for a 21st place finish. It is also the best 6K time for the team this season, surpassing her previous high of 25:07.2 at the Sewanee Invitational.

Merrit Newton also set a new PR with her 40th place time of 25:34.2, and
Ashlyn Browne also posted a new PR for the freshman. She finished with a 25:36.8.

Madison Sellers improved her personal best time by 44 seconds with a 44th place time of 25:39.8.

McKenzie Bullock Louis (26:09.7),
Annabel Feltner (26:15.0) and
Elise Overlin (26:16.8) rounded out the Sewanee scoring. Louis and Feltner each posted career-best marks.
MEN SCORERS

Duke Richey set the team-best in the 8K with a 28:51.5 to lead Sewanee with a 58th place result.

Hastings Holt improved his personal best by almost a minute with a 29:21.5, and
Will Stacey posted a 29:41.9.

Patrick Rodriguez (31:44.6),
Ian Boer (32:16.4),
Noah Hodges (32:51.1) and
Elijah Andrews (33:36.9) rounded out the Sewanee scoring. Hodges set a new season-best mark.
-Sewanee finished ninth overall among other qualified collegiate teams. Including two clubs, the team secured an 11th place result.

The Purple and White will next host the 2021 SAA Championships on Oct. 30 from The Course at Sewanee.
