The Dallas Stars lost to the Boston Bruins 3-1 on Saturday night. This wasn’t the Star’s night in terms of possessing the puck in the opponent’s zone. The Bruins controlled the puck for most of the game and it’s what cost the Stars the win tonight in Boston.

Dallas Stars vs Boston Bruins recap: 1st period

This was not the start the Dallas Stars wanted in Boston. They spent the majority of the time trying to get the puck out of their zone. The shots on goal were 17-5 in favor of the Bruins. Brad Marchand was tripped into the net and scored on a penalty shot near the end of the frame. Hopefully, the Stars would get it together in the second period, or else this will be a long game for them.

Dallas Stars vs Boston Bruins recap: 2nd period

The Stars came out of the locker room and really got the puck on Bostons goalie on the power play. Stars were also lucky that Roope Hintz‘s freak injury was just a small cut and could start the second period.

The second period was a continuation of the first for the Bruins as they spent most of the time down in the Stars side of the ice. The only bright side for the Stars is their penalty killing is keeping them in the game.

Luke Glendenning got the Stars on the board midway through the second period on a turnover in Boston’s zone. He also drew a penalty on his second attempt three minutes later to give the Stars a power play.

The Shots on goal still favored Boston 28-14 after 2 periods. The Stars managed to get some opportunities on offense and made this a tie game going into the third period.

Dallas Stars vs Boston Bruins recap: 3rd period

The Boston Bruins kept attacking the net as the third period opened and Jake DeBrusk got one past Holtby to retake the lead. The Stars never could get anything going for the remainder of the game and the Boston Bruins put it away on a Marchand empty netter to make it 3-1.

Dallas Stars vs Boston Bruins recap: next game

Stars have a quick turnaround tomorrow as they travel to Ottawa to take on the Senators. The Senators are a very young team that should not be overlooked. Last season they had one of the top-scoring rookies in the league. It should be a fun matchup to watch on a Sunday afternoon.
