On Saturday, BmoreNews presents "Black Wall Street Awards" celebrating Black entrepreneurs and professionals as well as the people who support them regardless of race on the 2100 block of W. North Avenue in west Baltimore.
The event featured "I Am Black Wall Street" book signing.
Now in its 10th year, nearly 1,800 Joe Manns awards have been presented to honorees in a dozen or more US cities, in including New York, Tulsa, Atlanta, and Los Angeles. Interestingly, this year coincides with the 100th commemoration of the destruction of Tulsa’s Black Wall Street May 31-June 1, 1921.
“The beauty of tomorrow’s ceremony is that we are shifting our focus more to our millennial entrepreneurs,” said BmoreNews publisher, Doni Glover.
He added, “Brittany Hector, Mosiah Fit, Nakeisha Turner, and NachoBangers.com are all prime examples of what our future will look like from an entrepreneurial perspective. These are the beautiful, bright minds who will soon be leading us into the future. Hence, we are compelled to celebrate them early and often.”
Other honorees include Cameron Miles, well-known for his mentoring over the past 30 years, political strategist Mark Clack, and Sister Angela Muhammad, a true West Baltimore legend. Another noted honoree is Robert Shahid, General Manager at WEAA 88.9 FM.
The event will happen at the E.M.A.G.E. Center, the new $3 million facility which is a proud by-product of a number of partners, including Port Covington and the State of Maryland. The E.M.A.G.E. Center is run by youth, including the manufacturing of Frozen Desert Sorbet and Made In Bmore Clothing.
