No. 22 Red Raiders Close Fall Slate in San Marcos

October 16, 2021 | Women's Golf

Jim West Challenge will be broadcast on ESPN+ throughout the two-day event

LUBBOCK, Texas – The No. 22 Texas Tech women's golf program will close its fall slate against another challenging field this week as the Red Raiders tee off Sunday at the Jim West Challenge hosted by Texas State at the Kissing Tree Golf Club in San Marcos.

The trip to San Marcos has become a regular one for the Red Raiders in recent years as Tech will be playing at the Kissing Tree Golf Club for a fourth-consecutive season. Tech finished second at the event in 2019 with three members of this week's lineup combining for the runner-up showing.

Amy Taylor and Gala Dumez both tied for ninth in Tech's 2019 visit to San Marcos, while Anna Dong was only 1-over through 36 holes before withdrawing during the final round. Dong and Taylor were both part of Tech's lineup when the Red Raiders traveled to San Marcos in 2018 as well.

In addition to the forementioned trio, Tech will also send freshmen Chelsea Romas and Chiara Horder to San Marcos. The two freshmen have contributed to Tech's success early this season with Horder averaging 73.3 strokes per round followed by Romas at 73.9 as the Red Raiders have two top-three finishes in their first four tournaments this season.

The Red Raiders will once again see another challenging field this week, facing the likes of No. 3 Oklahoma State, No. 14 Texas A&M, No. 21 Florida State and No. 23 TCU. The Red Raiders moved to No. 22 in the latest Golfweek Magazine poll this week and are No. 24 in the recent Women's Golf Coaches Association (WGCA) rankings.

Live coverage of the Jim West Challenge will be provided on ESPN+ throughout the tournament with camera located at the 9th, 13th and 18th holes as well as the No. 14 tee. Live scoring will also be available via www.Golfstat.com.
