LAKEWOOD, OH - The 14th annual Spooky Pooch Parade took over Lakewood’s Madison Park on Saturday.
The event, put on by LakewoodAlive and sponsored by Drug Mart, drew in hundreds of pups and their parents all vying for Best Costume. The grand prize was a year’s worth of complimentary dog food supplied by Pet’s General Store.
Dogs of all sizes came decked out in their Halloween getups from witches and pumpkins to horror movie characters.
Families had fun getting into the Halloween spirit by not only dressing up their furry friends, but creating themed group costumes. Standouts included a creepy doll house set, a New Orleans funeral hearse, and the entire cast of Beetlejuice. See photos in the gallery above.
LakewoodAlive gave the crowd plenty to do. Vendors such as Oktober’s, Inn the Doghouse, and the Lakewood Library lined up around Madison Park offering shoppers different wares to buy. Lakewood Garden Center supplied pumpkins for kids to paint and decorate, as well as Dog Yoga with Pink Lotus Yoga for those willing to get a good stretch in before the parade. The Unibrow Society offered portraits of attendees’ pups. Dogs also got to participate in some competitive fun like bobbing for tennis balls.
There was not a frown in sight as onlookers lined Madison Avenue and Halstead to see the creative costumes and gave willing pups a well-deserved pat on the head.
