Lou Williams thinks New York Knicks and Philadelphia 76ers fans should hate Trae Young. However, he doesn't mean it in a bad way for his Atlanta Hawks teammate.

Williams' reasoning is clear and quite the trolling for Knicks and Sixers supporters: which fan wouldn't get angry with Young after he basically kicked their favorite team's butts?

Speaking with Sarah K. Spencer of the Atlanta Journal-Constitution, Williams was asked about Young embracing being a villain and even thriving amid the jeers and boos from their opponents. The veteran Hawks guard isn't surprised by the hate Young is receiving and actually expected it, especially since the All-Star is establishing himself as a hero in Atlanta.

“He should,” Williams said on Young embracing the big stage. “He’s very talented. He has the opportunity to lead a franchise. He’s very young. There’s nothing not to be excited about and not to embrace. He doesn’t play for the Knicks. He doesn’t play for the Sixers. So they should hate him. He was kicking their (expletive). It is what it is. And he’s embraced that, and he’s been a hero in Atlanta.”

To recall, Trae Young broke the hearts of both Knicks and Sixers faithful during the 2021 playoffs as he led the Hawks to the East Finals. Many people didn't expect Atlanta to even make it out of the first round, but Ice Trae showed everyone how deadly he can be.

He propelled the Hawks past the Knicks in just five games during the first round before surviving the Sixers in seven grueling East Semifinal contests. Throughout that period, Young averaged 29.1 points, 10.4 rebounds and 1.3 steals.

Young is expected to continue carrying the torch form the Hawks. Love him or hate him, it's clear his focus is on keeping Atlanta winning.
