3 shot at Halloween house party near Los Angeles

WHITTIER, Calif. (AP) — Three teenagers were critically wounded at a Halloween house party in Southern California when someone pulled out a handgun after a fistfight and opened fire, authorities said.

The victims, who ranged in age from 15 to 19, were hospitalized in critical but stable condition, Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Sgt. Carlos Sanchez said.

Authorities were searching for the unidentified gunman, who ran from the scene in Whittier, the Los Angeles Times reported.

Deputies arriving around 11 p.m. learned that “a suspect had produced a handgun and fired into a crowd, possibly at some guys he was fighting with,” Sanchez said.

The shootings occurred in the street outside the house, he said.
