The fight for justice continues for the seven women shot on Grove Street.
Kevin Muhammad hosted a rally on Saturday to unite the members of the Grove Street community and fight for the victims of the shooting.
“We're asking the community to come together to bring justice to the victims and the families who suffered this heinous crime about four weeks ago," Muhammad said.
The day of the rally was chosen with a purpose. October 16th is the 26th anniversary of the Million Man March in Washington D.C..
Muhammad was one of hundreds of thousands who marched in support of the Black community and to stand up against racial stereotypes.
"The generation now know nothing about the Million Man March. Most of them weren't even born at that time," Muhammad said. "So, it's important now that we re-educate them to the Million Man March, re-educate them to the 1963 march with Dr. King, and all of the struggle that we've been through in America."
Muhammad also declared it a day of prayer and fasting for the healing of our community.
There have still been no arrests made, and the community continues to ask people to come forward with any information they may have.
“What if that was your daughter? What if it was your sister? What if it was your relative or your best friend, and you saw what happened?” Muhammad asked.
Tennessee Representative Yusuf Hakeem showed up and gave his support.
“I think the elected officials need to come out to events like this, to hear from the people what their interests and concerns and needs are," Hakeem said.
The rally also raised money for the Grove Street Justice Fund, which will go toward assisting the arrest and conviction of whoever is responsible and making sure witnesses are protected.
Muhammad said they raised over seven-thousand dollars of their ten-thousand dollar goal. He said that once they hit that goal, they are going to ask the City and County Mayors to match it.
