The AP Top 25 poll will look very different after the No. 2 Iowa Hawkeyes were stunned at home by the unranked Purdue Boilermakers in Week 7.

After getting all the way to No. 2 a week ago, the Iowa Hawkeyes laid a rotten egg at home to the unranked Purdue Boilermakers, getting upset by the tune of 24-7.

Though Iowa can still win the Big Ten West, get to Indianapolis and make the College Football Playoff, the Hawkeyes’ margin for error is completely gone. While they could afford to screw up one game, getting blown out at home to Purdue could not have been that game. With the Hawkeyes expected to take a dive in the next AP Top 25 poll, how far will they actually fall?

Here is what the top 10 of the next AP Top 25 poll could look like after the Iowa loss to Purdue, in addition to No. 1-ranked Georgia stomping on Kentucky in Athens.

Projected college rankings after Purdue upset Iowa, Georgia blasts Kentucky

  1. Georgia Bulldogs
  2. Cincinnati Bearcats
  3. Alabama Crimson Tide
  4. Oklahoma Sooners
  5. Ohio State Buckeyes
  6. Penn State Nittany Lions
  7. Michigan Wolverines
  8. Michigan State Spartans
  9. Iowa Hawkeyes
  10. Oregon Ducks

Georgia is No. 1 with a bullet, and nobody is close to the Dawgs at No. 2. While it should be Cincinnati following them up, that gap between No. 1 and No. 2 is gargantuan. Alabama, Oklahoma and Ohio State should all crack the top five. It could be five Big Ten teams in a row with Ohio State, Penn State, Michigan, Michigan State and Iowa heading into Week 8. Oregon is still a top-10 team.

The Hawkeyes probably fall at least to No. 6, possibly as far as No. 12 after this total disaster.
