The Great Fire
by Roland Schimmelpfennig
 Translated by David Tushingham
English World Premiere
In person immersive vinyl audio pop-ups, and at home audio streaming

We are also thrilled to announce the English language world premiere of Roland Schimmelpfennig’s The Great Fire translated by David Tushingham, in a radically re-conceived audio production featuring in-person, bubble friendly, immersive vinyl audio experiences in pop up locations, as well as, audio streaming for audiences at home.

“Schimmelpfennig evokes a world both familiar and otherworldly. Within a folk setting of competing rural villages, The Great Fire takes us to a valley full of connection, abundance and love, and dramatizes the mechanics of division, greed and hate. The Great Fire asks: Where are we now? And how did we get here? The Great Fire is a thinking person’s tour de force for our time.“  – Necessary Angel Artistic Director, Alan Dilworth

This production, conceived and directed by Necessary Angel artistic director Alan Dilworth, is performed by Dora Award-winner Maev Beaty, with original sound design and mix by Dora Award-winner Debashis Sinha. Immersive vinyl audio pop-up dates, times and locations, as well as streaming information coming soon!

The Film

Pamela Mala Sinha’s multi award-winning solo play CRASH, directed by Necessary Angel artistic director Alan Dilworth, has toured North America to great acclaim. Necessary Angel will be filming the work in May at Toronto’s Crow’s Theatre, with broadcast release dates to be announced soon.

The story: After the loss of a loved one, a woman must face the shattering memories of a past trauma in an attempt to bring back someone she loves. CRASH is the fractured unraveling of memory; a tour de force narrative about family, faith and love.
