Rochester, NY (WHAM) - A popular local restaurant is pausing dinner service after a kitchen fire Friday night.
Firefighters were called out to Char Steak & Lounge at the Strathallan Hotel at around 10 p.m.
The fire was contained fairly quickly, but the restaurant director says the kitchen will need some repairs.
He also thanks the city's first responders for their quick response to the fire.
Area Director Jason Fulton released the following statement:
Char Steak & Lounge a local favorite is located on the first floor of the Strathallan Hotel & Spa- a Doubletree by Hilton is in heart of Rochester, NY East Avenue Neighborhood of the Arts will be temporarily pausing service dinner service starting Saturday, October 16 due to a kitchen Fire.
The team at Char Steak & Lounge at the Strathallan Hotel are glad to say that preparation makes for the best defense when the unexpected takes place. We experienced a fire last night that was contained to the hood in our kitchen and our team knew exactly what to do to keep everyone safe. The Rochester Fire and Police were amazing in their response and handled everything quickly. Our kitchen team identified the problem and along with our Security team made sure everyone was evacuated and safe. We will continue to have Char lounge open for cocktails seven days a week. A light menu will be available in our 9th floor venue Hattie’s overlooking the city we call home, please call ahead for hours and reservations. We have some minor repairs to make to get going fully and will see you again very soon. The overnight accommodations for Strathallan, and special catered events are not affected by the repairs. We are so proud of our team, our city first responders.
