COVID-19 positivity rate in New York stays below 3 percent

New York’s statewide COVID-19 positivity rate remains below 3 percent and is even lower in the Big Apple, the latest stats show.

The statewide rate Friday was 2.54 percent, when measured on a seven-day average, and it stood at 1.29 percent in New York City, Gov. Hochul announced Saturday.

There were 2,115 patients hospitalized with the coronavirus Friday and 28 New Yorkers died of COVID-19, including nine city residents.

A total of 64,712 doses of the COVID-19 vaccine were administered from Friday to Saturday and 85.9 percent of New York adults have now received at least one dose. A total of 77.1 percent of adults have completed the vaccine series.
