Warrior Wonder: Stephen Curry still owns Portland, even in preseason

Make Curry the Mayor of Rip City

Why does Stephen Curry reserve such devastation for the Portland Trail Blazers? Last night to cap off the Golden State Warriors’ undefeated preseason, Curry smacked Portland for 41 points and 9 rebounds on on 13-of-23 shooting from the field (7-of-14 from beyond the arc), and 8-of-10 from the free throw line.

It’s a scary sight when Curry decides he’s going to just incinerate anyone who is in front of him like a bag of popcorn left in the microwave for 5 minutes too long. Curry has had at least four games with 40+ points against Portland over the regular season and playoffs, including a career-high 62 points last season.

And it’s not just that he’s putting up big numbers on Rip City. Last night’s 41-point torrent of splash mercifully let up after only 30 minutes. But this isn’t the first time Curry’s scored big with a 30-minute-or-less guarantee, lighting Portland up with maximum speed.

Hahah what! If anyone asks me which Curry detonation vs Portland is my favorite, that’s an easy answer: the “I’m Back” game.

He was cooking so hot that game that other fans immediately removed any “but Steph was hurt” excuses from the 2016 playoffs. Which is fine, even though we know Curry was playing on one leg. Should we punish the man for being able to cook the Blazers on one leg??
