WESTLAKE, Ohio –

Car thefts

Westlake police over the Oct. 2-3 weekend received several calls of vehicles being entered and items taken. In addition, several vehicles were stolen.

Police remind residents to keep vehicles locked and to remove valuable items.

Fraud

A resident called police on Oct. 4 reporting that he received a phone call supposedly from a Publisher’s Clearing House representative who requested the resident purchase gift cards to win a contest.

The victim did not fall for the scam, and he lost no money.

Weapon seized

Officers stopped a vehicle on Oct. 5 for a traffic violation, and they discovered a .45-caliber pistol.

Officers also discovered suspected drug paraphernalia and learned that the driver had a suspended license. Officers took the driver into custody.
