The Jackson State Tigers welcomed the Alabama State Hornets to Mississippi Veterans Memorial Stadium on Saturday for a battle between the top two teams in the SWAC's Eastern Division. 

Jackson State defeated Alabama State 28-7.

The Tigers (5-1, 3-0 SWAC) remain undefeated in conference play with the homecoming victory. The Hornets fell to 3-3 and 2-2 in the SWAC with the loss.

Jackson State's J.D. Martin shows off speed with 21-yard touchdown run

J.D. Martin could have driven a truck through the hole created by Jackson State's offensive line. Instead, he took the handoff and turned on the jets, sprinting into the end zone nearly untouched. The Tigers' second rushing score of the day ended a five-play, 56-yard drive with a bang. 

Santee Marshall extends Jackson State's lead with touchdown run 

Santee Marshall took a handoff from Shedeur Sanders and had plenty of room off the right side to scamper into the end zone from 4 yards out. The score capped off the Tigers' six-play, 55-yard drive late in the third quarter.

Jackson State retakes lead when Shedeur Sanders finds Malachi Wideman for touchdown

Jackson State head coach Deion Sanders opted to go for it on fourth and goal from the Alabama State 3-yard line, and his son, Shedeur Sanders, delivered a strike to a wide open Malachi Wideman in the end zone. 

Alabama State's Myles Crawley ties game with pass to Jeremiah Hixon

The Hornets capped off a 63-yard drive with Myles Crawley finding Jeremiah Hixon open in the end zone for a 17-yard touchdown. 

Myles Crawley, Keron Jones take Alabama State into red zone 

Keron Jones broke free from Jackson State defenders, and the Alabama State offensive line gave Myles Crawley plenty of time in the pocket to find the redshirt freshman wide open down the field for a 42-yard gain to the Tigers' 15-yard line. 

Jackson State's Shedeur Sanders, Keith Corbin III connect for touchdown 

Quarterback Shedeur Sanders, the son of head coach Deion Sanders, showed off a little "Prime Time" of his own on Jackson State's first touchdown of the contest. On a long rollout, the freshman stiff-armed a defender to evade a sack and heaved the ball into the end zone. On the other end, Keith Corbin III hauled in a spectacular catch with a defender in his face.
