The Sandman – First Look At Gwendoline Christie As Lucifer | DC FanDome

It’s been over thirty years since Neil Gaiman released The Sandman at DC Comics via the Vertigo Imprint. The critically acclaimed series has been in development for years and now awaits its Netflix debut. At a fan event a few weeks ago we finally saw a first look at the highly anticipated fantasy series. The series opens up in the distant past and follows Tom Sturridge’s Dream. He is one of the seven Endless, immortal siblings that represent various parts of metaphysical existence.

While we don’t currently have a release date for The Sandman, we know that we are inching closer and closer as we begin to see announcements and reveals. Today for example, during the DC Fandom Event, we have the first look at Lucifer from the series. That character is played by Game of Thrones star Gwendoline Christie.

The Sandman

For the reveal, we were given two posters. One with Lucifers’s face in the light while everything else is dark. A very stern and confident look. The other is a poster with just her wings. It also has the statement “Never Play Games With Lucifer”. What stands out about the wings is the depth of the black. In The Sandman Lucifer appears primarily as a supporting character. At some point during his existence, he became bored. Leading him to close Hell’s gate and retire to Earth. But by the end of the series, he realized that Hell was actually a gift and not a punishment.

What do you guys think about the first look at Gwendoline Christie as Lucifer for Netflix’s The Sandman? Does she look like David Bowie? Fun fact: The original Lucifer in The Sandman looks like Bowie at the request of Gaiman.
