Sorority sisters travel to Hays

Alpha Kappa Master members met for lunch at Thirst’s in Hays on Monday, Oct. 11 with Glenna Melkus as host.  

Following lunch, the chapter met at the home of Glenna Melkus for a business meeting and program. 

Membership committee announced Patty Smith will be awarded the Master degree at the December meeting and Marcia King will be inducted in the Golden Circle at Founder’s Day in April 2022. The social committee announced that on Sept. 11, a social was held at the home of Alice Clapsaddle and the November for the social members will attend a dance program sponsored by Larned’s Music Club. In addition, the service committee announced the giving of stuffed animals to a preschool, the chapter sent a check for additional expenses incurred by Shauna Webster Okey at K.U. Medical Center, and Glenna Melkus presented the program “90 Years to Shine,” a review of the founding of Beta Sigma Phi with additional facts about what happened in 1931.

The next meeting and program will be held at 2 p.m. on Nov. 8 at the Santa Fe Trail Auto Museum hosted by Marcia King.
