Tigers take Homecoming from Hogs, Arkansas drops third straight
Arkansas was looking to avoid its third straight loss today and secure its first win over Auburn since 2015. However, the unranked Auburn Tigers came to the Hill and claimed a sixth straight win over the Razorbacks on Homecoming. The Tigers started the scoring when Bo Nix found Ja'Varrius Johnson for a 39-yard touchdown score. That gave Auburn an early 7-0 advantage.Arkansas moved down the field on its first possession, but settled for a field goal. Freshman Cam Little kicked a 44-yarder to make it a 7-3 game.In the second quarter, Auburn's Tank Bigsby rushed in from one yard out to widen the gap, giving the Tigers a 14-3 lead.However, right before the halftime break, KJ Jefferson found Treylon Burks for an 11-yard touchdown to tighten things up before the Hogs headed into the locker room.The Jefferson to Burks connection was a good one Saturday afternoon. The Razorbacks began the third quarter with another touchdown. Still in the third, Auburn strip sacked Jefferson and recovered the ball in the endzone for a touchdown to take the 21-17 lead.The Tigers then had a critical fourth down stop and used the momentum to score again. Bo Nix aired out a 71-yard touchdown to Demetris Robertson to put the Tigers ahead 28-17.Arkansas didn't waver though. Dominique Johnson charged in from ten yards out for another Razorback score. The Hogs tried to convert for two points after the touchdown, but to no avail. Auburn maintained a 28-23 lead.The Tigers tacked on a 29-yard field goal in the fourth quarter to add to the lead, making it 31-23.Next, Arkansas will travel to Little Rock to face SWAC opponent Arkansas-Pine Bluff in an 11 a.m. showing at War Memorial Stadium. The game will air on the SEC Network.
