A Vigor Shipyard representative said this is the first time anyone can remember this happening at the facility.
Norwegian Cruise Line’s “Pride of America” sailed under the St. Johns bridge and pulled up alongside a larger ship, Princess Cruises' “Ruby Princess” Friday evening.
Pride of America was docked in Portland a month ago, then returned for a short time before cruises.
Ruby Princess docked in North Portland for two weeks and left early Saturday morning. At 951 feet, it was the largest ship ever at the Vigor Shipyard.
Its first cruise following the “COVID pause” begins October 31st, where they will depart from San Francisco.
