Kawhi Leonard reportedly filed a trademark for ‘CLIP GANG,’ hoping to sell LA Clippers merchandise with the nickname.

Many are wondering where he got the idea from. One thing we do know is that he showed up to the Intuit Dome groundbreaking with a Clippers hoodie that said ‘CLIP GANG OR DON’T BANG’ on it. From my efforts to research, it appears that he bought the hoodie from an online clothing shop not affiliated with the team. I can’t confirm this, but this appears to be the shop.

Now, Kawhi is clearly interested in doing something similar himself, with him trying to trademark ‘CLIP GANG.’ He’s going to make quite a bit off of this if he does get it trademarked.

LA Clippers fans will be buying lots of merch from Kawhi Leonard if the ‘CLIP GANG’ trademark goes through.

LA Clippers fans are not new to this saying. Kawhi Leonard knows this could take off.

‘Clip Gang,’ and even other similar variations have been used for a long time. In fact, some even debated on if it was coined by Lou Williams.

Regardless of who started it, it will likely take off once Kawhi really gets going on this endeavor.

The Clipper community already embraced the ‘CLIP GANG OR DON’T BANG’ hoodie when they first saw Leonard wearing it.

With a Western Conference Finals run last year, a new and elite head coach, a new arena in the works, and our franchise player embracing the fanbase like this, the Clippers are really building a strong identity here.
