His case was heard by a parole panel at the San Diego prison where he is incarcerated.

Watson, 75, was one of three members of the Manson “family” convicted of all seven murders on Aug. 8 and 9, 1969, in Los Angeles.

He will be eligible for another parole hearing in five years.

Watson had been imprisoned since 1993 at Mule Creek State Prison in Ione but was moved to the San Diego facility after his previous parole hearing, in 2016.

Four other Manson followers remain in prison: Patricia Krenwinkel and Leslie Van Houton were convicted of the Tate/La Bianca killings, and Bruce Davis and Bobby Beausoleil were convicted of other murders that summer.

All except Krenwinkel have won recommendations of parole, but governors Jerry Brown and Gavin Newsom have overturned them.

Charles Manson died in 2017 at age 83.

Killed in the attacks were Sharon Tate, Abigail Folger, Wojciech Frykowski, Jay Sebring and Steven Parent at the Benedict Canyon home of Tate and her husband, Roman Polanski, and Leno and Rosemary La Bianca at their Los Feliz home.
