Ed Orgeron continues to be on a red-hot seat with LSU underperforming once more in 2021. The calls for his dismissal will only grow louder if the Tigers fall at home to No. 20 Florida on Saturday.

Orgeron has failed to help the program capitalize on a historic 15-0 season that saw it surge to a College Football Playoff National Championship victory. Obviously, that team featured Joe Burrow and was loaded with talent, but any momentum from 2019 is all but gone.

Now, according to college football insider Bruce Feldman, one name LSU could target if it decides to move on from Orgeron is a person already familiar with the program and the SEC as a whole: Mel Tucker. Tucker, who started out as a graduate assistant in Baton Rouge under Nick Saban and later was his associate head coach at Alabama before joining Kirby Smart’s initial staff at Georgia for 3 seasons as defensive coordinator, led Colorado for a season before replacing Mark Dantonio at Michigan State.

“I am told that there are some very influential people inside LSU that are really, really high on Mel Tucker,” Feldman said on FOX’s “Big Noon Kickoff” on Saturday. “[The question is] would he make another big move in such a short period of time?”

The Spartans are currently 6-0 and ranked 10th in the country. They visit Indiana on Saturday.
