Woman charged for aiding 16-year-old runaway who went missing in July

CLAYTON, NC – On Friday, July 30, 2021, Clayton Police Officers responded to a residence on Hamby Street in reference to a missing female juvenile, age 16. According to the parents of the missing 16-year-old, they believed she left the residence and possibly ran away with her boyfriend.

Clayton Police Detectives initiated an investigation into the missing female juvenile. On September 13, 2021, Clayton Police, with assistance from the US Marshals’ Service, The Johnston Co. DA’s Office, and Johnston Co. Child Protective Services, located the missing juvenile in Portland, Oregon where she was placed in protective custody.

This morning, October 13, 2021, Clayton Police arrested Angela Marie Warner (44) of Raleigh on the charge of Child Abduction, a Class F felony. Warner is accused of assisting the sixteen-year-old female runaway in leaving the State of North Carolina. Clayton Police Detectives determined Warner assisted in concealing the juvenile’s whereabouts and helped facilitate the transportation of the 16-year-old across State lines. Warner is currently being held in the Johnston County Jail under a $35,000 secured bond.
