Oklahoma is currently 6-0 and ranked 4th in the country, but the Sooners are probably fortunate to be in that position in the first place. Some feel that it’s not a matter of if Lincoln Riley’s team will end up losing, but when; outside of a blowout of FCS Western Carolina, all of their wins have been by 7 points or less.

Part of that has been the play of Spencer Rattler. A Heisman Trophy candidate before the season, the Sooners quarterback has looked far from it. And there might be a quarterback controversy in Norman as he was benched in favor of true freshman Caleb Williams in Oklahoma’s comeback win over Texas in the Red River Showdown in Dallas on Oct. 9.

For Lee Corso, the choice between Rattler and Williams is clear.

”If they want to try to get into the (College Football) Playoff and win it, Williams is their guy,” Corso said in a Twitter video recorded by Kirk Herbstreit on Saturday. “The other guy cannot win it for them.”

And that’s not all, as Corso feels that Rattler will be playing elsewhere in 2022.

”There’s no question Rattler will be gone next year,” he said. “He’s 2nd team now. He’s gone.”

He did have a humorous suggestion for a landing spot if Rattler did end up transferring.

”Florida State would be a good place for him,” he joked, invoking his alma mater.

Will it be Rattler or Williams on Saturday getting the call for the Sooners against TCU? We’ll see who Riley selects and if Corso’s prediction ends up being a correct one.
