The New York Islanders are back in action today. They continue their 13-game road trip by traveling to Sunrise for a date against the Florida Panthers.

In the Islanders opening game of the 2021-22 season, the Islanders fell 6-3 to the Carolina Hurricanes. The game wasn’t exactly how we remember New York Islanders hockey. The Isles were uncharacteristically poor in their defensive zone which lead to a number of chances for the Hurricanes.

Ideally, the Islanders are better in their own end against a Florida team that plays a similarly quick game and that relies on a strong top-nine. Changes to the lineup, might not be the best way to achieve that, but Trotz indicated some changes are coming.

According to Trotz, there are some guys who are a little “banged up”. Who’s banged up exactly is anyone’s guess really.

There could be up to two changes on the roster for tonight’s game. While those changes might not come to the team’s top-six, you’d have to imagine a guy like Ross Johnston, who played less than six minutes, might come out.

Perhaps the Islanders change out Andy Greene and give Sebastian Aho a test early in the season.

New York Islanders Predicted Lineup

Lee-Barzal-Palmieri
Beauvillier-Nelson-Bailey
Parise-Pageau-Wahlstrom
Komarov-Cizikas-Clutterbuck

Pelech-Pulock
Chara-Dobson
Aho-Mayfield

Sorokin (Schneider)

Florida Panthers Predicted Lineup

Verhaeghe-Barkov-Reinhart
Huberdeau-Bennett-Tippett
Vatrano-Lundell-Hornqvist
Lomberg-Thornton-Duclair

Weegar-Ekblad
Forsling-Gudas
Kiested-Montour

Bobrovsky (Knight)

That’s a good lineup. And to think that top-line left wing was once in the Isles system. Carter Verhaeghe was part of the return the blue and orange got from the Maple Leafs for Michael Grabner.

Quenneville confirmed prior to the game that Sergei Bobrovsky will be given the start in today’s game.
